June 1983: Finally managed to defeat monotony.

It’s over!
Episode: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai – 24 (Finale)
Flavor: Sweet
What can I say about this final episode? It wasn’t as exciting as I hoped it to be, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. I liked seeing Takano breaking down like that, yet at the same time I couldn’t help but feel bad for her. Also, the best part was that epic encounter between the demon Hanyuu and the defeated Takano.

Takano’s last crazy moment.
The last part with the woman who looked like a grown-up Rika and Miyoko was kinda confusing, though. It’s like they wanted to give Takano a happy ending too, but in the end it resulted as a kinda weird scene.

Uh… Rika, right?
Final comment: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai did a fine job at answering all the unsolved riddles from the first season without making the show seem dull or repetitive. Sure, the lack of murders and gory stuff made this series feel quite different from the first one, but they managed to find other ways to keep us entertained while keeping the same mistery atmosphere.
Oh, and yes… I’ve heard about the third season. I’m not sure if they’re planning on animating the PS2 exclusive arcs or something, but if they’re going back to the cute-killer-girls days, then count me in. =)

We’ll miss you, Oyashiro-sama.
