Noramimi 02 – My drinking partner is a mascot.

Flavor: Sweet
Uh, nobody else is blogging this series, so I might as well write a quick summary for this week’s episode:
The first story has Noramimi temporally taking care of a child until his current pet, which is a caterpillar, comes out from his cocoon. While having a chat with the kid, Noramimi comments about how lucky he is to have his mascot turn into a butterfly, but then the kid says that he thinks that isn’t really going to happen, since his caterpillar has done the same thing in the past and when he breaks out of his cocoon he simply gets bigger. ^^ In the end, the mascot does transform into a butterfly and the child realizes that they won’t be together anymore since he’s entering middle school next year, so his mascot offers the kid to take him on a final flight around the city before returning to the agency.
The second story is about a father who’s pretty hesitant about adopting a mascot for his son. He visits the agency where Noramimi works at, and there he finds a rather odd tanuki that leaves him with not that good of a first impression. He gets to meet with the tanuki again at a restaurant and they actually start to get prety well along… they even go to get some drinks together. The father later explains that he doesn’t like the idea of having a mascot in his house because he feels that if his son had one to play with, he’d eventually stop paying attention to him. This chapter ends with the father having made friends with the tanuki and finally deciding to take his kid to the adoption center so he could pick a freeloading character for himself.
I have nothing to say about this other than it was a really heartwarming and cute episode. If you’re looking for a break from the usual action/drama stuff, watch this show.

If you’re looking for a break from the usual action/drama stuff watch ARIA!! Or maybe Porfy!
That said, Noramimi isn’t bad, it’s just decidedly kiddy, and the only kiddy Japanese show I’ll ever watch is Pythagoras Switch. ;)
I love kiddy anime series. Doraemon and Hoshi no Kirby are the ones I’ve enjoyed the most.
