These True Tears are so not for me.

This show ended while I was gone so I didn’t have the chance to write some kind of a final impressions post for it. But now that there’s nobody who cares about this series that much anymore, I might as well write everything I didn’t feel like saying when this show was all popular and stuff.

Okay, I admit it. I have something against this series. But it’s not because it’s so bad I hate it with all my heart… but because PEOPLE. FREAKING. OVERRATE. IT. TOO. MUCH. Seriously, the anime hadn’t even gotten to the good part yet and people were already saying stuff like it was the best drama they’ve ever seen. I’d frequently find posts in blogs and forums mentioning things like “HIROMI IS NOT A BITCH AND I CAN PROVE IT” or “I CAN’T BELIEVE TRUE TEARS IS NOT A KEY ADAPTATION BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE ONE!”. It was really irritating but, nonetheless, I kept watching it every week and I didn’t let it bother me. Then, the last episode finally came out and I was suprised to still find a lot of fanboys who absolutely loved the shitty ending and labeled this as a masterpiece BIG LOL. Well, opinions are opinions and you can’t be wrong with them, right? How about no.
So, I’m sure a lot of you aren’t going to agree with me, but whatever. Here, let me point some of the flaws the anime has. First… let’s start with the characters. All of the male characters were pretty dislikeable, but I guess that didn’t bother me that much since it’s the same in all of these kind of shows anyways. But, what about the girls? Noe… she’s just plain dumb and I always saw her as a failed attempt at making a moe character. Both Hiromi and the filler heroine Ai were horrible bitches, especially Hiromi… yet I’m sure she has a lot supporters who fapped at her victory in the end of the series. Yeah, that’s there to show that a lot of fanboys will believe a character is good as long as it has boobs and they are able to find some kind of cute girly trait on her.

Next, the drama/plot. I suppose I enjoyed the emofest and the flood of plot twists we got during the mid-point of the series, but during this time the characters got extremely annoying that I didn’t care if Jun wanted to have hot siscon sex with Noe or not anymore. Also, they kept on using these crappy cliffhangers every week (like when Noe fell from the tree for no reason whatsoever) to keep the audience absorbed on the show but sadly it wasn’t enough to make me die of excitement while waiting anxiously for next week’s episode.
Ah, and don’t even dare to give me any of that “this show is deep” crap. Guys, the fact that it sometimes gets boring or all emo doesn’t make it deep. Besides, It’s hard to take a show seriously when it has chickens as some kind of a weird motif for the series, as well as stupid scenes such as the cliffhanger mentioned above.

Now, I’m not saying True Tears is total garbage (well, it is)… I just don’t see how it managed to get all that much praise from its viewers. When I get to see these kind of “this show is awesome, godly, exciting, flawless, etc” comments, I feel like I’ve been watching a different series all this time or that I should probably have watched every episode three or four more times in order to understand the “complexity” behind it.
