actually, the only reason why i think true tears is good (and i’m not saying excellent or out of this world good. i meant good enough) is because this is the only anime that i ended up watching end to end when it aired because of the disappointing line-up that season (winter 08).

I thought it was the best show of the winter–but that’s not saying much as the winter season was really lackluster. I still quite liked it a lot, even better than the ending of Kimikiss, because I felt it did have emotional nuance that wasn’t present in other shows. However the plot contrivances sometimes got to be a bit much. It definitely isn’t “one of the best dramas EVAR.”

Although I found True Tears quite good, I do agree it had it’s share of flaws. I must have missed all of those overrating comments that you mentioned, but from the sound of it, I probably would have been pretty annoyed with them as well. I’ll admit that I liked the show for it’s drama, but I have seen better drama. Also, Ifound nothing that would have made me consider this a “deep” show.
