Fansubs are destroying my heart.
Yeah, I hate them so much that I just felt like trolling a poor, defenseless fansubbing group! However, since I couldn’t find any bad fansubs on my computer, I decided to go and create my own fansubbing examples so I could flame them myself and explain what’s clearly wrong with every kind of fansub group these days.

First, we have that horrendous karaoke thing that’s commonly placed in both the OP and ED sequences. Seriously, even if I think that Doraemon’s OP theme is cool and spicy, I’m sure I will never feel like singing it since I’d most likely look like an idiot. Also, let’s not forget that fansubbers tend to use these animated, coforful, distracting fonts that often prevent us from enjoying all these fanservice shots that most opening sequences usually have on them nowadays.

Now, can you find what’s wrong with the picture above? Exactly, that smiley at the end of the translator’s note! Seriously, I think that using these is a serious offense towards the old anime fans who in their days didn’t have any of these fancy smileys and at most they’d only be able to come up with things such as :) or :-(

Next we have the annoying stylish fonts that fansubbers just love to use in their so called professional works. Really, just imagine if your favorite mediocre JRPGs were translated like that! OH THE HORROR.

Get these TL notes out of my gore and yandere action, please!

Translations in actual art?! Now that’s what I call blasphemy!
Here’s an example of what a good fansubbing job would look like. The text is barely noticeable and everything is completely translated to English!

Seriously, if we don’t do something about it soon, all fansubs will probably end up looking like this:

…Or not. But, yeah, just be sure to remember this: The present is past and our past is the new future! Say no to horrible fansubz and just watch the god damn RAWs!

Mewants the Mr Saturn font!!!
I can’t believe it was the Clannad ‘fansub screenshot’ that eventually slayed me, nice boat is losing its edge…
You can Mr.Saturn font here XD http://www.zone38.net/font/
OMG thanks! *the nostalgia…* lol
Why do you think there are so many fansubbing groups? Some of them do a shitty job, others do a brilliant job.
Still, the best way to watch anime is to learn japanese and watch the eps raw, that is the very best way. But since not all know japanese we´ll have to endure the bad translation and parody subbing and whatnot.
And yes, it makes me wonder why some people are even fansubbing. And yes, it´s free so basically by rule you shouldn´t complain, but come on! When its shitty then it´s shitty,
It’s shitty to even bother arguing about this. Really.
The Japanese aren’t going to play “we wants the gaijin market for anime”, neither will the English-speaking distributors go for the “oh-so-nice” karaoke effects. The fansubbers? Heh; while I respect their efforts, their attitudes deserves a whacking.
So what am I going to say? I say, “Fuck you. Enjoy whatever shit that is presented in front of you, and pray tell you don’t end up like the 300 piss-poor Singaporeans being served the Odex notice.”
(Speaking of which, Southeast Asian nations attracted the most number of noob-like behaviour when it comes to online use. Just listen to this guy: he’s had enough to justify a country-wide ban. Conspiracy theory fly away.)
I really don’t give a care how the subbers do it. As long as I can enjoy the anime and they do a fairly decent job translating, I have no problem with it. If they do things that irritate the hell out of me like that weird TL note up there or overlarge, annoying fonts, there’s always another fansubber out there. It’s too rare to find an anime with just one subber.
Also, there’s my option to learn Japanese but I have neither the money or the time for it when the only time I’m ever exposed to the language is when watching anime or j-drama.
Hahaha on School Days… it takes me back. I should watch it again!
