Da Capo II S.S. 13 (end) – Lacks JUSTICE.

Published by Taiyaki Category: Da Capo II

Flavor: Sour

Yeah, it was a happy ending… a really really horrible one at that. Here’s a short summary:

So, it looks like some time has passed since the events of last week’s episode. None of Yoshiyuki’s friends seem to have forgotten entirely about him yet… but the only ones who are still able to fully remember about him are the Asakura sisters. Proof of this is that Otome has been repeteadly writing his name a bunch of times on her notebook, while Yume is seen visiting the places that she went together with him on their date.

Later, a ghost Sakura is shown wandering around the town, noticing how everybody is still worried about Yoshiyuki in some way or another. She visits the magical sakura tree again in an attempt to do something about all of this, and she succeeds… pulling a Deus Ex Machina bringing Yoshiyuki back into existence.

While all this happened, Otome was sitting somewhere on a bench crying, and Yume was still sound asleep. She had a dream where saw herself finding out that her brother had come back, then she woke up realizing that everything had been just a dream and finally remembered that she still possesed this little special ability called “SEEING THE FUTURE ON YOUR DREAMS”, so she rushed out of her house and headed off to the place where she had met up with Yoshiyuki on her dreams… which happened to be the place where Otome has been sitting alone all this time.

There, a confused Yoshiyuki has appeared in front of his sister and asks her if she’s able to hear him. She answers him with something like “Yeah… I can hear you”, then she reminds him of his name and stuff. Meanwhile, Yume has showed up running towards them yelling “Nii-san~!” BUT IT’S LIKE YOSHIYUKI DOESN’T REALLY GIVE A DAMN ABOUT HIS OTHER SISTER SO HE IGNORES HER AND GOES BACK TO STARE AT OTOME’S FACE AND THEN THEY SMILE TOGETHER. FIN

…I still think it should’ve just ended with everything that happened on the previous episode. Anyways…

Final comments:

Well, overall, it sucked. While this second season of the series was undoubtedly better than the first one, it doesn’t necessarily mean it ended as a good series. With a bunch of annoying characters, a ridiculous plot, and a crappy ending for both of its seasons, as well as one of the worst male harem leads ever, I think this is one of the most disappointing eroge adaptations I’ve seen so far, and it’s really a shame the whole DC series had to end with such a mediocre sequel. Meh, whatever.

It’s amazing how differently we can see one show. I thought this was an excellent episode.

That scene between Yoshiyuki and Otome worked beautifully for me. He wasn’t ignoring Yume; he and Otome were sharing the joy of seeing Yume coming.

I thought Takagaki Ayahi’s voice-acting as Otome was absolutely first-rate in the last three episodes, after Otome had played almost no role in the first season and three quarters.

I’m not going to claim I like Yoshiyuki much — he completely alienated me in season one — but harem leads are not often very interesting. Anyway, season two of DC2 was far better than season one and ended for me as a pretty good series. Certainly worth watching, if you have any liking at all for this kind of show.

The series could have ended nicely at ep12, but it ends nicely here, too. Two great endings for the price of one, lol.

Da Capo is fated never to get enough love. It’s always fairly rough, in look and plotting, but it usually (not last season) comes through for me.

Ah, well, Yoshiyuki has always ignored Yume and it’s been implied that he actually “prefers” Otome over her, so I couldn’t think of anything else during that one scene.

Also, I really loved the first Da Capo. This one, not so much.
