Koihime Musou 01 - No men in sight.

July 10th, 2008 | Category: Anime - Other

Just a bunch of girls and chibis.

Flavor: Sour

Initial reaction: IT’S RAINING WOMEN

Wait, what? I thought this was supposed to be an eroge adaptation? Why the heck is there no male harem lead?! At first it doesn’t really seem like such a big deal, but… seriously, if the male protagonist from the game was so bad and useless that they had to remove him from the show, what can I really expect from the plot of the series and the rest of the characters? Also, the lack of a guy in the main cast totally nullifies any possibility of having romance on this adaptation… which leaves us with, what? Lame fanservice and a story that has been told numerous times before? Why, no thanks! So far, I think there’s only a single series on my anime list that contains an all-female main cast, and it’s probably gonna stay that way for some more time.

Bah, and to think I was actually looking forward to this one.

Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu Sora~ 01 - Stuff goes here.

July 03rd, 2008 | Category: Anime - Other

I guess I should’ve just used “Someday’s Dreamers” as the title instead.

Flavor: Sour

Initial reaction: NICE BACKGROUNDS

I’ll be frank: I didn’t pay that much attention to what happened on the actual episode (although I’m sure I didn’t really miss that much since… I mean, we’re talking about a slice-of-life series here!). After Sora met with her mother, I kinda stopped caring about what the characters were talking about and, well, I probably spent the rest of the episode staring at the pretty backgrounds and scenery.

All I can remember from the whole thing is that Sora somehow managed to perform some kind of magic trick for her friend in order to help her a bit with her love confession, and that in the end she took a plane straight to Tokyo. I also have some foggy memories of seeing a bath scene, but I suppose that’s pretty much it.

Honestly, this doesn’t seem like a bad show… it’s just that I’m not sure if this is really something I could like. However, if I ever end up following this, it will be because I find it interesting… not relaxing or whatever.

Keep blogging? Not sure.

Sekirei 01 - Fight with the power of FANSERVICE!

July 02nd, 2008 | Category: Anime - Other

Or with the power of kissing. Or boobs. Whatever.

Flavor: Sour

Initial reaction: So, the story is set in year 2020, huh. I never understood why people bother with these dates.

Well, this ended up being the first show I decided to check out from the whole batch of new summer anime series… last season, if I’m not mistaken, it was To Love-Ru. Coincidence? Absolutely, what else could it be?

Anyways, all I knew about this series is that it had boobs… and, yeah, they’re really everywhere. As expected, every single girl in this show, be it Musubi or one of the random villian sisters giving chase after the main female character, has enormous breasts. This, alongside the idiot male protagonist and the numerous ecchi moments, are enough reasons for me to skip this show.

The only thing that managed to catch my attention out of all of this is that it has kissing. However, it seems like they’re simply using the kissing as a “method” for the Ashikabi or whatever they’re called to activate the Sekirei’s full power. So, yeah, since “kissing with no romance = fail” and because of the fact that later on the series Minato is gonna have an entire harem of Sekirei going after him, it’s clear that I won’t be enjoying any of this.

Which means… I’m not gonna bother with this show. Woo.

Keep blogging? Most likely not.

Cooking Failure with Mama.

June 14th, 2008 | Category: Cooking Mama, Random

Well, after a few hours of gameplay, I’ve managed to complete this little Nintendo DS game called Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends (which is actually the third one on the series since a sequel for the Wii came out before this one), and now I guess I can safely this: if you really enjoy cooking… avoid these kind of games!

At first, it feels like it’s gonna be a lot of fun since you’ll be able to cook a lot of different international dishes and stuff, but the truth is that most of the time you’ll find yourself feeling either tired of doing the same things over and over again, or annoyed at how the food always ends up looking like total crap no matter how well or badly you did on the minigames.

Also, Mama seems to think that pounding my own hand while making mochi is reason enough to give me a silver medal… even if I managed to complete the minigame on time. Maybe a little blood fell into the rice without me noticing and that ruined the whole dish, or maybe Mama is actually judging my levels of stupidity, but I don’t really care anymore since I’m finally done with this game.

Whatever. I think it’s about time for me to move on to better stuff… or at least better games (like the upcoming Higurashi no Naku Koro ni DS remake or that one JP-only game that’s actually like a recipe book and it shows you how to cook for real).

Fansubs are destroying my heart.

June 02nd, 2008 | Category: Random

Yeah, I hate them so much that I just felt like trolling a poor, defenseless fansubbing group! However, since I couldn’t find any bad fansubs on my computer, I decided to go and create my own fansubbing examples so I could flame them myself and explain what’s clearly wrong with every kind of fansub group these days.

First, we have that horrendous karaoke thing that’s commonly placed in both the OP and ED sequences. Seriously, even if I think that Doraemon’s OP theme is cool and spicy, I’m sure I will never feel like singing it since I’d most likely look like an idiot. Also, let’s not forget that fansubbers tend to use these animated, coforful, distracting fonts that often prevent us from enjoying all these fanservice shots that most opening sequences usually have on them nowadays.
