This show ended while I was gone so I didn’t have the chance to write some kind of a final impressions post for it. But now that there’s nobody who cares about this series that much anymore, I might as well write everything I didn’t feel like saying when this show was all popular and stuff.

Okay, I admit it. I have something against this series. But it’s not because it’s so bad I hate it with all my heart… but because PEOPLE. FREAKING. OVERRATE. IT. TOO. MUCH. Seriously, the anime hadn’t even gotten to the good part yet and people were already saying stuff like it was the best drama they’ve ever seen. I’d frequently find posts in blogs and forums mentioning things like “HIROMI IS NOT A BITCH AND I CAN PROVE IT” or “I CAN’T BELIEVE TRUE TEARS IS NOT A KEY ADAPTATION BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE ONE!”. It was really irritating but, nonetheless, I kept watching it every week and I didn’t let it bother me. Then, the last episode finally came out and I was suprised to still find a lot of fanboys who absolutely loved the shitty ending and labeled this as a masterpiece BIG LOL. Well, opinions are opinions and you can’t be wrong with them, right? How about no.

So, I’m sure a lot of you aren’t going to agree with me, but whatever. Here, let me point some of the flaws the anime has. First… let’s start with the characters. All of the male characters were pretty dislikeable, but I guess that didn’t bother me that much since it’s the same in all of these kind of shows anyways. But, what about the girls? Noe… she’s just plain dumb and I always saw her as a failed attempt at making a moe character. Both Hiromi and the filler heroine Ai were horrible bitches, especially Hiromi… yet I’m sure she has a lot supporters who fapped at her victory in the end of the series. Yeah, that’s there to show that a lot of fanboys will believe a character is good as long as it has boobs and they are able to find some kind of cute girly trait on her.

Next, the drama/plot. I suppose I enjoyed the emofest and the flood of plot twists we got during the mid-point of the series, but during this time the characters got extremely annoying that I didn’t care if Jun wanted to have hot siscon sex with Noe or not anymore. Also, they kept on using these crappy cliffhangers every week (like when Noe fell from the tree for no reason whatsoever) to keep the audience absorbed on the show but sadly it wasn’t enough to make me die of excitement while waiting anxiously for next week’s episode.

Ah, and don’t even dare to give me any of that “this show is deep” crap. Guys, the fact that it sometimes gets boring or all emo doesn’t make it deep. Besides, It’s hard to take a show seriously when it has chickens as some kind of a weird motif for the series, as well as stupid scenes such as the cliffhanger mentioned above.

Now, I’m not saying True Tears is total garbage (well, it is)… I just don’t see how it managed to get all that much praise from its viewers. When I get to see these kind of “this show is awesome, godly, exciting, flawless, etc” comments, I feel like I’ve been watching a different series all this time or that I should probably have watched every episode three or four more times in order to understand the “complexity” behind it.

Gosh, now I hate bananas too. ;_;

TV series: Da Capo II
Episodes: 1~6

So I started watching Da Capo II, since I just had finished Da Capo and didn’t feel like watching the second season, so I skipped to the actual sequel. Unfortunately, these first few episodes were pretty dissapointing, so I’m not sure if I should keep watching or just drop this show for now.

I mean, everything started okay. The whole “confession-since-first-episode” thing didn’t bother me that much. I don’t really like Koko… she seems pretty generic to me XD, but it isn’t that much of deal since there’s like a 99% chance for her to get dumped by <strike>Jyuunichi 2.0</strike> that Sakurai guy.

The show really started going downhill when we got to see more of the real candidates. Let’s check them out, one by one.

Wataru Itabashi. Yaoi ending ROFL. Yeah, sure… at least it would be better than the last two choices of this post.

Anzu Yukimura. Even if she has a real story in the game, nobody is going to take this gothic-loli seriously anymore. But… I would’t mind if she keeps her comic-relief role throughout the series, haha. Even if she ended with Yoshiyuki, they wouldn’t last that long (Note: I’m not talking about the ultra-mega-spoiler about Yoshiyuki’s “true nature”… I’m just saying that they aren’t meant for each other. =P)

Sakura Yoshino. She’s, like, my favorite girl in the series… but, too bad, a Sakura x Yoshiyuki doesn’t seem possible since… nevermind, spoilers.

Nanaka Shirakawa. “I hate her becasue she isn’t Kotori lol.”, “Shirakawa? = INSTANT WIN”… Her entire popularity seems to be derived from her surname alone. XD Still, my guess is that she won’t be appearing in Sakurai <strike>dirty</strike> future-predicting dreams anytime soon (translation: Shirakawa fans are going to be screwed again <_<).

Otome Asakura. She’s Yoshiyuki’s older sister… and supposedly the main heroine of the game, so she seems to be the best choice for the official pairing. But, after five episodes, she hasn’t shown any feelings for our <strike>perverted</strike> hero, so I’m not sure if she has any chances left. ;_;

Minatsu Amakase. This girl is your average tsundere except with much less LOVELOVE. Her whole attitude, along with her banana-human ANGST, is mortally annoying. And the “IM A ROBOT WHO RUNS ON BANANAS ROFL” thing just sounds pretty stupid to me (Also, bonus hate-points for being friends with another *****). So, what about her possibilities of becoming the chosen one? OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!1! So far, two episodes and the last part of the OP have been dedicated to her. Really, WTF.

Yume Asakura.

My nii-san is a perverted loser but I’m, like, a complete loser too, so I have no choice but to fight over him in epic-rooftop-confession-battle style!

Let me get this straight… when I first saw Yume’s character from a screenshot of the game, I thought she looked kinda cute and told myself that she would be one of my favorite characters in the sequel. But when I saw her anime version… “Wait, she looks exactly like Nemu, this won’t be good…” And I was right. x_x

Yume is a Nemu-clone… only 1000 times worse. It’s like the creators decided to take Nemu’s “annoying whiny brat” attitude and made a character based solely on it. What’s even worse… the constant jealously/secret-incest-love scenes give Yume a high chance of becoming Yoshiyuki’s <strike>slave</strike> definitive *gulp* girlfriend. Seriously, WTFx2.

…

Poor characters and an up-to-now boring plot, DC II practically is “all about the physical fanservice”, which I’m not even interested in. I hope the drama/story manages to improve in the next few episodes, or else I won’t be taking home anything from the DC franchise anymore. ;_;
