Flavor: Sour

Yeah, it was a happy ending… a really really horrible one at that. Here’s a short summary:

So, it looks like some time has passed since the events of last week’s episode. None of Yoshiyuki’s friends seem to have forgotten entirely about him yet… but the only ones who are still able to fully remember about him are the Asakura sisters. Proof of this is that Otome has been repeteadly writing his name a bunch of times on her notebook, while Yume is seen visiting the places that she went together with him on their date.

Later, a ghost Sakura is shown wandering around the town, noticing how everybody is still worried about Yoshiyuki in some way or another. She visits the magical sakura tree again in an attempt to do something about all of this, and she succeeds… pulling a Deus Ex Machina bringing Yoshiyuki back into existence.

While all this happened, Otome was sitting somewhere on a bench crying, and Yume was still sound asleep. She had a dream where saw herself finding out that her brother had come back, then she woke up realizing that everything had been just a dream and finally remembered that she still possesed this little special ability called “SEEING THE FUTURE ON YOUR DREAMS”, so she rushed out of her house and headed off to the place where she had met up with Yoshiyuki on her dreams… which happened to be the place where Otome has been sitting alone all this time.

There, a confused Yoshiyuki has appeared in front of his sister and asks her if she’s able to hear him. She answers him with something like “Yeah… I can hear you”, then she reminds him of his name and stuff. Meanwhile, Yume has showed up running towards them yelling “Nii-san~!” BUT IT’S LIKE YOSHIYUKI DOESN’T REALLY GIVE A DAMN ABOUT HIS OTHER SISTER SO HE IGNORES HER AND GOES BACK TO STARE AT OTOME’S FACE AND THEN THEY SMILE TOGETHER. FIN

…I still think it should’ve just ended with everything that happened on the previous episode. Anyways…

Final comments:

Well, overall, it sucked. While this second season of the series was undoubtedly better than the first one, it doesn’t necessarily mean it ended as a good series. With a bunch of annoying characters, a ridiculous plot, and a crappy ending for both of its seasons, as well as one of the worst male harem leads ever, I think this is one of the most disappointing eroge adaptations I’ve seen so far, and it’s really a shame the whole DC series had to end with such a mediocre sequel. Meh, whatever.

Flavor: Sweet

Well, I must say this episode was actually quite good, and I think what really made it so great was that it was mainly focused on Yume (Otome still played an important role this week, but still). I never imagined I’d end up liking Yume’s character this much, and for once I’m gonna give props to the studio behind the series and the game’s script writers for accomplishing something that seemed impossible to achieve.

Err, anyways, what looked like the last episode of the season started with Yume asking Yoshiyuki for a date. The next morning, when Yoshiyuki and Yume were heading together to school they met up with some of their friends. Yume is suddenly shocked to find out that none of them is able to see Yoshiyuki anymore, so she decides to tell him that they should just skip school and instead begin with what they had promised to do on this day.

So, after spending the whole day eating choco bananas, drawing weird faces on the sand and visiting shrines, Yume tells Yoshiyuki that there’s one more place she wants to go with him… which ends up being the school rooftop. There, she begins telling him about how she can see the future and knows everything about Yoshiyuki’s situation… and then she pretty much confesses her real feelings to him. She says some more stuff before she bids him farewell and tells him that her sister hasn’t forgotten about him yet so he should just leave and go after her. Later, Yoshiyuki rushes off to where the magical sakura tree is located at, all while Yume stays alone crying at the school.

Yoshiyuki is able to find Otome there, but apparently she’s already forgotten about him. She starts talking to him about how she’s a magic user of justice and how she had to sacrifice something really important to save the people on the island. Then she begins saying things like “I love my little brother, I want to be with him!” and that’s when Yoshiyuki realizes that she still remembers him.

Unfortunately, it’s a bit late to do anything now and Yoshiyuki begins to fade away. Otome runs towards him and when she’s about to reach him he’s vanished completely. Otome then falls to the ground, notices how Yoshiyuki is already gone and starts yelling to the magical sakura tree begging it to bring his little brother back. THE END… or I guess not.

Next episode: …Yeah, well, there’s still one episode left. It’s called “Meguri-kuru Kisetsu” (something like “the coming/returning season”). You can probably guess what’s gonna be happening on it.

Well, looks like this series is finally coming to an end. There are still like three episodes left, but a lot of important stuff happened in this one, so I’m not sure if there’s still that much material left for them to cover.

Anyways, it starts out with Yoshiyuki searching for Otome all over the town, since nobody has seen her for a while. In the end, he isn’t able to find her, so he heads off to the Asakura sisters’ place where Yume is the only one around. There, for some reason, Yume accidentally begins telling him about how she likes him even though he’s always seemed to care more about her sister than her. Luckily for her, Yoshiyuki is an idiot, so he didn’t pay attention to any of this and just fell asleep.

So, thanks to his ability to see other people’s dreams, Yoshiyuki is able to enter Sakura’s dream. There she tells him everything about the magical cherry blossom tree and how he was born from a wish Sakura made for “family” because she felt lonely and stuff. Yoshiyuki finally realizes that Otome has been worried and acting strange because of this, so he decides to go and help her but not before giving his thanks to Sakura for everything she’s done for him while calling her his “mother”.

After that, Yoshiyuki finds Otome beside the magical sakura tree and he starts telling her that she shouldn’t worry about him and asks her to just do what she must do, but Otome really doesn’t want him to disappear so she starts crying and whining while doing some pretty funny faces and noises. Of course, he manages to convince her to wither the tree… and that’s where this week’s episode ends.

Next episode: Everybody starts forgetting about our dumb protagonist.

Yeah, ever since she had that dream of herself saying farewell to Yoshiyuki, she’s been acting pretty nice to him lately. Meanwhile, now that Otome has learned the truth about her dear little brother’s dangerous situation, she’s been avoiding him every day… wait, how does that help, again?

Also, in the end, grandpa onii-chan (Jun’ichi, that’s it) went and did the same thing as Sakura in the previous episode, and now the only characters I liked in this show are gone because of that goddamned tree’s fault. What’s worse is that it looks like everything so far has been in vain since the magical cherry blossom is still there granting all these corrupted wishes in the island. =/

Flavor: Mild

You know, this episode could have been a lot better, but no… the shitty sutdio behind this had to go and ruin everything like they always do. The only parts I enjoyed were the scene where the Asakura sisters get drunk and when Yume goes all “Na…Na…NaNaNa~” because she had cut her finger and then Yoshiyuki went and grabbed her hand to lick the wound.

Oh and, by the way, I guess now I really feel sorry for Yume… certainly it should be tough to be part of the Asakura family. I mean, It must suck to be cursed with the ability to see the future and being unable to change anything, and to have a sister who’d rather do some dirty work on the streets than spending time with her on her birthday. Seriously, Otome freaking looked like some kind of magical sakura tree otaku detective doing all that reasearch stuff for the whole day.

Also, I’d say that “I can’t believe Yoshiyuki forgot about Yume’s birthday!” but we already know he’s a dumbass so there’s no surprise here. I guess Yume has all the right to be mad with him, but in the end it’s gonna be all her fault for being in love with someone as stupid as this guy.

So, yeah, I’m pretty sure that, in the game, when Yoshiyuki arrived to the Asakura house he still managed to find Yume awake. Also, the reason for not coming sooner wasn’t because he got stuck on the mall but rather because Otome fainted while she was hanging out with him and he didn’t want to go with Yume until he was sure she felt better, so I think you’d imagine how Yume felt when he told her all of this. Well, I was expecting to see all of this happening in this episode, so I got pretty disappointed when here they showed that Yume had already left the “party” when Yoshiyuki got there.

Wow, this is like the most boring episode from the overall series so far. It reminded me of that episode in .hack//Liminality where all the characters did was talk in various places. In this one, half of the time was spent on showing Yoshiyuki and Otome researching together about the magical sakura tree and all the trouble it’s causing around the island. Then we get to see old Jun’ichi again having a chat with the kids about what happened in the past dealing with the magical wish granting thing, and in the end Anzu reveals how she managed to obtain her super ability to never forget anything. Really, if all you’re gonna do is talk, then at least do it about something interesting/shocking or that we hadn’t realized before!

This week’s episode was centered around the tsuntsun sister, yet for some reason I ended up enjoying it… maybe the fact that the animation quality was pretty high this time helped a bit.

This week’s episode was centered around the tsuntsun sister, yet for some reason I ended up enjoying it… maybe the fact that the animation quality was pretty high this time helped a bit.

Anyways, I’m sure there was also an ski trip event thing in the game, though I really doubt you could actually get to see it on Yume’s path. Huh, at least it was still a kinda important episode for Yume’s storyline, since the whole Yume trying to avoid the snow accident but failing in the end stuff was there to show that *spoiler, highlight to read* Yume is unable to alter the future, and whatever event she ends up foreseeing in her dreams is gonna happen anyways no matter how hard she tries to change everything… except in this case it’s like she didn’t even try because she practically decided to go out to ski in the end =P. Oh, well…

Quite a dull episode since, aside from a little character development and some details from the main characters’ past that I had already figured out, not much important stuff happened in this one. You’d think by now they’d have already finished with the whole Christmas party and the puppet show preparations, but no. Instead, they decide to focus a bit on Otome and most of the episode was spent on a flashback of a childhood memory that I think we had already seen a part of it back in season one. Bah.

Oh, and remember Jun’ichi, the protagonist from the first Da Capo? Yeah, he’s back and he’s now there as an erojiji the Asakura sisters’ grampa. I’m sure Nemu is still there, though I doubt they’d really show her because, really… who wants to see a bishoujo heroine turned into an old hag anyways.

This episode didn’t have robots saving kids or anything like that, but I still found it pretty ridiculous. My guess is that the people who worked on the game didn’t care that much about giving the rest of the girls other than Yume and Otome a decent story since they were filler heroines anyway (or maybe the ones who are doing an horrible job are the producers for this show lol).

So, yeah, this was an Anzu-centered episode. Based on what I’ve read about the game, her story is kinda connected to all the magical sakura tree business so I was fine with it being animated… but now that they’ve shown us a part of it, it has already brought me bad memories of the crappy Minatsu route that we got last year.

First, we have Yoshiyuki being again the one who strictly gets to help the girl and Anzu showing some emotions for the boy almost immediately. Then, we have the whole “wait your right, we’re actually Anzu’s friends! lol we gotta be nice to her so let’s make a party at her house!” thing from the rest of the gang which not only is stupid but ends up making everything plain booooooooring. And let’s not forget about how Anzu has been able to live there alone for all that long time!

Seriously, the only good thing from all of this was that Yume finally showed her deredere side and wasn’t that much of a bitch this time. But this episode wasn’t dedicated to her so it’s like it doesn’t matter anyway.

Next episode: … Mahou Shoujo Otome?

Initial reaction: Da Crapo Suck Season kitaaaaaaaa!

Everybody must already know this, but… season one was a total piece of crap… and, even if they’ve decided to focus more on the magical side of the heroines, I highly doubt this is getting any better since it’s still being done by the same studio and, well, both Koko and the bitch sister are still there.

As for the first episode, I guess it wasn’t all that bad, though I’m not really that interested in the plot since I’ve already spoiled myself in some important parts of the story from the game, like bad endings and other stuff. The only reason I’m gonna be watching this is because of all the ridiculousness and flames this show gets.

Keep blogging? Of course. XD
