Shigofumi 05 - Now with more cats and dangos.

In this episode: Fumika’s other self.

Okay, seeing Fumika acting like that was absolutely weird. Not sure if this is moe~ or whatever, but to me it was amusingly odd. In fact, the whole episode had a sort of WTF feeling because of the sudden change of pace. When they first stated that they were delivering a letter to a cat, I immediately realized this week was going to be quite different from the rest of what we’ve seen in this series. But I can’t really say it was a bad episode, though, since it actually made me laugh more than once, we got some more stuff from Fumika’s past and the ending was rather cute. I love this show’s serious side, but… eh, I guess this was fine too.
And here’s the promised dango.

Shigofumi 04 - Marimite tennis.

Shigofumi gets the KimiAru treatment this week and decides to include some yuri as well… though don’t expect it to be shown in the same comical way.

So, this week’s story is about a lesbian tennis player whose mother, after finding herself a new man, abandoned her when she was young… but now she’s dead and she decided to send her last letter to her daughter. The whole episode deals with the girl refusing to accept the letter and Fumika following her around trying to complete her job, so it wasn’t as interesting as previous episodes… but I, personally, thought it was still quite good. I think it’d have turned out better if they had given the yuri stuff more relevance to the overall story, though, since it’s like the same thing could have been done even without the girls love theme.
Anyways, in the end, the lover of the girl convinces her to read the letter and she discovers that her mother had been worrying about her all along… like she’d even secretly go to her tennis matches and stuff. So, yeah, we got a happy ending this time. Hurray.

The OP was finally shown this week. The song is from Ali Project, and let’s just say it wasn’t… “refreshing”.

Whoa, another great episode. This week is a continuation of the rocket story, where Shouta is now the one who sends a shigofumi to Asuna. After reading his rather nice letter, she goes to the rooftop and decides to make the final preparations so the rocket could be finally sent to the skies.
The ending to this one also caused quite an impact with Asuna getting shot by a cop when she wasn’t trying to do anything wrong (the girl took her knife out so the guy thought she was planning on attacking his partner, but she just wanted to remove a blanket that was on the rocket’s way). We also get to see a bit of her traumatic past life with her father and how that led her to end up killing him.
Next week is a new arc, so I can’t wait to see how this one turns out.
