Flavor: Mild

Hikari notices Akira has been feeling pretty down lately, so she decides to invite the entire SA gang to some kind of festival that’s being held on the school Sakura and Yahiro are at. There, Akira somehow loses her cellphone so everybody goes to search for it. In the end, Yahiro is the one who’s able to recover it, yet he doesn’t want to be the one who gets to give it back to Akira. Hikari convinces him to take the credit for it, though, so he goes and hands it in to Akira personally. After he does so, Akira thanks him with a smile on her face and Yahiro blushes.

The episode would have ended on a happy note if it hadn’t been for Tadahi making a dumb comment that made Akira get really mad at him.

This was quite an average episode for Special A, but at least it looks like the whole deal between Tadashi and Akira is gonna get resolved next week. Furthermore, the episode after that one is called “Singing Voice * Villian” so I guess Megumi and Yahiro will also get their change to get their pairing stuff wrapped up too. Wonder if they plan on giving Ryuu some kind of conclusion as well…

Flavor: Sweet

So, just after Sakura idolizes Jun some more and asks him to go out with her, he immediately rejects her… and the rest of the episode is spent with Sakura chasing after Jun and him running away from her (with the help of Ryuu and his twin sister, of course). Apparently, Jun doesn’t want to date Sakura because he’s afraid she might become a victim of his ’secret’, just like it happened with a girl he liked in the past.

Anyways, despite Ryuu and Megumi’s efforts to block Sakura’s attempts at kissing Jun, in the end he lets her give him a kiss on the cheek. However, not long after he gets kissed, Jun faints and some time later he wakes up, but with a completely different personality. It’s not the shy and quiet Jun anymore, but rather his other self who possesses a bad boy-like attitude. Ryuu explains to the other SA members that he’s been like that ever since he watched some kind of hipnotism TV program when he was just a child. Ever since then, whenever he gets kissed by a girl, he becomes the other Jun who’s pretty much irresistible to most women (and this is what ruined his past relationship). Ryuu then tells them that the only thing that’s able to turn him back to normal again is Megumi’s voice. Afterwards, Ryuu proceeds to say “good night” to Jun and Megumi gets ready to sing…

After Jun wakes up again, he’s now back to his normal self. Sakura then goes and compliments him about how he’s left her even more impressed about him and how she really likes both sides of his, something that makes Jun feel pretty happy…

This was a pretty fun episode and, hey, it looks like there’s finally an established pairing in Special A, who’d have guessed it! Also, let me say that Sakura is simply awesome… so awesome in fact that she’s already turned into my favorite female character from the show. Looking forward to seeing more of her later on the series.

Next episode: More about Akira and Yahiro… which I guess is okay since lately I just seem to enjoy SA a lot more the less they focus on Kei and Hikari.

Wah… that was such a short date, wasn’t it? How come Tadashi’s date with Hikari lasted a whole episode, while Kei’s gets interrupted halfway? Meh. Well… at least there was still some Kei x Hikari goodness and it also looks like Hikari is finally starting to realize how much of an idiot she’s been all this time.

The new character they introduced this week is called Sakura, who’s supposed to be Kei’s fiancee via an arranged marriage. She affirms that she doesn’t really like Kei, though… and she’s just planning on marrying him since doing so would be of great help for her family’s business.  Anyways, both Hikari and her start to get along pretty well, so Sakura goes and asks her as a favor to find out which kind of woman is Kei’s type.

After being bothered by Hikari about the whole thing for quite some time, Kei finally decides to tell her the answer that she had been looking for… simply because he’s afraid she might get in trouble with Sakura if she doesn’t manage to fulfill her promise. Meanwhile, Sakura is seen talking with Yahiro (since, surprisingly, they’re friends and both attend the same school) and supposedly he tells him that Hikari has been lying to her and that she’s already dating Kei. Sakura, being a girl who hates lies, gets incredibly enraged at Hikari and attacks her outside school.

However, Hikari is too focused on thinking about her current situation to pay any attention to the fight. She already got all the info she needed from Kei, but for some reason she doesn’t wish to tell anything to Sakura. She starts crying… and then, suddenly, Ryu and the twins show up behind Hikari asking her what is she doing on that place. Sakura quickly glances at Jun and immediately falls in love with him, shouting that she’s finally found her ideal guy.

Next episode: Uh… Jun x Sakura? Huh?

Well, after being forced to attend a commoners’ school for several days, looks like the SA members are back to their normal lives again… except for the fact that Akira has now been keeping in contact with Yui ever since then. One day, though, Yui decides to go and steal some expensive jewelry that she found on Akira’s room during one of her visits to the Toudou mansion. Then, in order to avoid Akira, she suddenly tells her that it’s troublesome for her when she does stuff like sending one of her luxurious cars to pick her up at her house and stuff, so from now on she isn’t coming to visit her anymore.

Obviously, Yahiro has been watching after this girl, so he’s able to discover her crime. He meets with her and tells her to don’t get close to Akira anymore. Meanwhile, Akira has been feeling pretty down because she thinks she must have done something really bad to Yui… so Tadashi comes and comforts her telling her that she should just go and apoligize to her.

They both go searching for Yui, and when they learn about her current situation from her mother, Akira quickly realizes that Yahiro must be behind all of this. However, when they go to confront him about the whole thing, they find Yui with him and she reveals everything about how Yahiro’s not a bad guy and how she needed money so she went and robbed the jewels etc etc. Akira, of course, forgives Yui, and then she proceeds to tell Yahiro that she’s sorry for all this trouble. The next day Akira gives Tadashi some sweets and I guess that’s it.

…So, like, poor Yahiro, haha. Now that we know that he’s been trying to protect Akira from all the people who were only interested in her money all this time, it’s clear that he’s not as evil as the anime makes him out to be. Oh, and… by the way, even if this was an Akira-centered episode, there wasn’t really that much Tadashi x Akira development… but at least we got to see this:

Too bad they decided to use crayons for what was left of this scene.

Next episode: Maybe we’ll get to see what Kei has been doing with Hikari all this time they were focusing on Akira?

The new song is called “Gorgeous 4U” and it’s preformed by Jun Fukuyama, Tsubasa Yonaga, Hiro Shimono and Kazuma Horie… the voice actors for Kei, Jun, Tadashi and Ryuu respectively. The fact that this one doesn’t make my ears bleed already makes it infinitely better than the first one.

If more Special A episodes were as funny and entertaining as this one and the one from last week, I think I’d be blogging about this show more frequently ( …or maybe much less since I actually have more to say when I really hate a series). So, Kei gets sick and Hikari decides to take care of him… I guess the most important thing out of all of this is that we finally got a real kiss:

Eh, a bit too glowy… but still good nonetheless.

Just don’t get your hopes up too high yet… remember Hikari is still as dense as ever and, well, Takishima is the only one who’s been making some progress out of this failure of a relationship. It looks like next week we won’t be getting any development either since it seems like it’s gonna be focused on some other S.A members.

Oh! Yay for more crayon fanservice! This must be like my favorite one so far. Seriously, there can’t be anything more emotional and romantic than a freaking old car!

Flavor: Sour

In this episode, Yahiro brings Hikari to his beach mansion and then he decides to use her as a “bait” to make Akira come over to his place, but in the end Kei is again the one who goes there to rescue her. But, really… who cares! The only thing that matters is that this hasn’t really been a good show and that even though I haven’t read the manga, I’ve found myself feeling pretty annoyed at how they’ve handled this series so far.

Sure, these past few episodes didn’t seem to follow that tedious “Hikari tries to defeat Kei in some random challenge” format (which was my main complaint with the first ones), but it doesn’t really matter since what I disliked the most about these kind of episodes (that being Hikari’s unawareness of Kei’s true feelings) is still there. Seriously, I hate Hikari so much that I don’t think I’ve even enjoyed all these pseudo-romantic scenes (such as the ‘kiss’ from this week) they’ve shown so far. Also, the fact that 95% of the jokes don’t make me laugh doesn’t really help either.

I don’t feel all that well today, so this entry is gonna be much shorter than usual.

I guess I don’t really have anything else to say about this episode other than it felt pretty much the same as the last one. There was fighting… there was rivalry… there were character introductions… it’s like I was watching Episode 01 all over again! My general complaints with the show haven’t changed either: I still hate the opening theme and Yuuko Gotou’s voice annoys me greatly. Let’s hope the next episode doesn’t end up having the same stuff except now with cooking.

Initial reaction: Geez, no OP sequence.

I actually watched this when the RAW came out… I just didn’t know what to write about it. The only complaints I had with this were probably the same as everybody else: the legs, Yuuko’s role as Hikari, that annoying song they played during the, err… “action” scene (aka the OP theme, ugh), etc. Also, I was curious to see why people kept comparing this with Ouran and, yeah, guess I really managed to find some similarities between these two. Overall, this first episode wasn’t as fun as I hoped it to be, but I admit it was still pretty decent so I’m looking forward to the next one.

By the way, I’m planning on reading the manga, although I’m not so sure if that’d be a good idea since I’m afraid I could start hating the show if I did that.
