Oh noes, it’s finally here!

Flavor: Sweet

I guess I don’t really have much to say about this episode other than everything was done just like how it was supposed to… although the first part seemed to drag out a lot and it had a bunch more of “omg there’s something wrong with Himawari!” hints which made me believe the people behind this thought we were stupid or something. Seriously, we already know that everything that Himawari touches gets covered with some kind of dark and glowy energy which causes bad things to happen… you don’t really need to bring Kohane out of her fake happy life with her psycho mother just so she could tells us that!

Anyways, everything was pretty boring until it got to the scene where Watanuki almost dies partly because of Himawari’s evil aura and partly because of his own stupidity. *shrugs* Overall, I suppose it wasn’t really something all that spectacular or exciting… but it was still good and I really liked it. If I had seen this before reading this arc on the manga, I probably would have been pretty shocked to see all of this happening… even with all the millions of clues they had given us so far. I dunno… something about having one of my favorite characters and blood on the same place just doesn’t go well with me.

Flavor: Sour

Seriously, no matter how you look at it, this wasn’t a good way to end Kohane’s arc. It seemed like nothing really happened and the whole conflict solved by itself. Also, the anime adaptation didn’t give any explanation to most of the events that happened on this story, so it’s like everything occurred with no reason whatsoever.

I mean, yeah, I know they couldn’t show all these annoying crossovers that CLAMP made between TRC and this series so that’s why they skipped the part where they explain that Kohane’s power came from one of Sakura’s feathers… but why could’t they at least show Kohane’s past with her mother and how they ended up with such an unhappy life? Or why couldn’t they, you know, just leave the ending as it was? It really pisses me off, and now I’m worried that they’ll ruin my favorite arc (the one focused on Himawari) which starts on the next episode. =/

By the way, I just don’t like Kohane’s voice… it simply doesn’t suit her!

Flavor: Mild

Err, I think this has been my least favorite episode so far. Maybe it’s because I’ve already had enough of Kohane’s arc in the manga (good thing it looks like it’s pretty much over) but, yeah, I didn’t really enjoy this one. That scene where Kohane’s mother throws hot tea at Watanuki felt like it had more impact the way it was shown in the manga, and all the filler stuff they added in the end pretty much left me confused for the rest of the episode. Wait, I thought Watanuki was supposed to stay in bed and start ‘dreaming’? I’m not really sure but I remember that some important things happened during these chapters… so I was quite surprised to see them skipping to more Kohane stuff… but, well, whatever floats their boat. =P

Next episode: I don’t remember anything about all that haunted mansion business in the manga, so I guess it’s gonna be more filler stuff.

I’m scared!

In my last xxxHOLiC post, I recall saying something like “This show is awesome, I’m so blogging this every week!”. Well, for some reason I didn’t… and the show’s almost over. *gasp* I really enjoy this series so I’m not sure why I haven’t written anything about it yet, but w/e. Here’s the entry… for last week’s episode!

I guess I liked this episode because it sort of reminded me of all these stories from the first season where they had a bunch of insane girls going to Yuuko’s shop asking for help. I really enjoyed those kind of episodic tales and that’s obviously what got me into xxxHOLiC in the first place.

So, yeah, the character in this one wasn’t all that interesting but it was fun seeing her getting angry at Yuuko and being all like “STOP PLAYING WITH ME, YOU FUCKING BITCH”. The anime also made her look dumber because of how she’s shown coming back for more bells during several days while in the manga she got pretty upset on her third visit to the shop.

There was some other stuff that wasn’t really in the manga and that got added into the anime, such as the mention of Kohane being the one who was gonna exorcise the ghost and some parts during the scene where they go pay a visit to the girl’s house. I guess the latter was really a nice addition since in the manga I didn’t know what the heck was happening when they got into the ghost’s room until they explained it in the end.

Next episode: The one about Kohane which aired yesterday.

Great, now I’m even more scared of spiders than before.

Intitial reaction: Oh noes, it’s the Spider Queen arc!

xxxHOLiC Kei is one of the few shows I’ve been looking forward to from this new season, mostly because I love the manga and the first season was somewhat enjoyable.

Anyways, the first episode was pretty much the same as the manga. I think it covered around 2-3 chapters from the 7th volume, and from this onwards the series is kinda different from the first volumes since it focuses a lot more on the main characters’ (and that new girl Kohane) backgrounds and stuff and much less on all the weird customers who Yuuko gets in her shop, so it kinda got more interesting… at least for me.

So, yeah, I’m gonna be watching this show. There’s a certain arc I can’t really wait to see animated!

Next episode: Catgirls and bookworms. Ahhh.
